Bathroom Lighting
Bathroom lighting should be flexible enough to light the room adequately for shaving and make up application, but also provide atmosphere where you simply want a relaxing soak in the bath. Having separately switched lighting on the walls and ceiling is a great way of achieving some control over how your bathroom is lit.
Lighting products will normally be required to carry an IP (Ingress Protection) rating in a bathroom. This rating describes a products ability to withstand water and steam to ensure it remains safe to use in this environment. Essentially the closer the light fixture is to a bath, shower or sink, the higher the IP rating needs to be. All items in the Bathroom Lighting Category carry a minimum rating of IP44, which tends covers the vast majority of domestic bathroom installations. For further detailed information on bathroom zones and IP ratings please visit the Bathroom Lighting section in our Lighting Guides.
